The Health & Safety Manager role:
This is a fantastic construction Health & Safety Manager position with one of the North West's most exciting construction contractors. From the word go, you'll be working alongside the head of Health & Safety, and will be critically involved in high profile construction projects and contracts - supporting site teams and management staff, driving the implementation and continuous improvement of a positive Health & Safety culture.
Based between the office in Lancashire and the various sites, you'll develop close relationships with directors and senior managers - driving Health & Safety from the top down. You'll visit sites across the region to build rapport and trust with site operational teams - supporting them in conducting risk assessments, method statements and site audits - leaving you to focus on influencing behaviour and attitudes towards Health & Safety on site.
Your skills and experience:
Being at or working towards Grad IOSH status will be ideal, as will holding or working towards the NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent (NVQ Level 4, for example). Experience in construction environments working for a main contractor is essential for the work you'll be looking after in this role, and you'll be able to demonstrate the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with construction staff and management. Demonstrable experience of managing subcontractors will be key, and you'll have examples of where you've supported subcontractors in adhering to their Health & Safety promises set out in their contracts. Audits, inspections, risk assessments and accident reporting are all fundamental parts of the role, but it doesn't stop there.
You'll have the opportunity to work with renowned and reputable construction directors, who'll support you in the "firm but fair" implementation of your Health & Safety approach. You'll also get exposure to a diverse business, which will include a significant contribution to the reviewing and improvement of the Health & Safety policies, procedures and management systems, giving you ownership of the progress in the coming years.
Salary, Remuneration & other benefits on offer:
Our client is willing to offer a salary and package above market rate to secure the right individual; a salary of between £40,000 and £50,000 (depending on experience) plus a car allowance, pension and healthcare.
