Your new role
Our client is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead the commercial management of a flagship £20 million new build design andamp; build project in Blackburn. This is a senior position within the commercial team, overseeing all financial and contractual aspects of the scheme from pre-construction through to completion. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring robust cost control, effective procurement, and successful project delivery in line with company and client expectations.

Responsibilities will include:

Taking full commercial responsibility for a £20 million Dandamp;B new build project.
*

Preparing and managing budgets, cost forecasts, and detailed financial reports.
*

Leading procurement and subcontractor tendering processes, including negotiation and contract award.
*

Managing valuations, variations, and final accounts.
*

Monitoring project costs and progress to ensure delivery within budget and programme.
*

Providing strategic commercial advice to senior management and stakeholders.
*

Overseeing contract administration, ensuring compliance with JCT and company procedures.
*

Identifying risks, opportunities, and implementing cost-saving initiatives.
*

Building and maintaining strong client, consultant, and supply chain relationships.
*

Mentoring and supporting junior surveyors within the commercial team.

What you will need to succeed:

*

Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor, ideally on new build design andamp; build projects.
*

Track record of managing large-scale projects, ideally £15m+.
*

Excellent understanding of JCT contracts and commercial management processes.
*

A degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
*

RICS membership (or working towards) is desirable.
*

Strong leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
*

Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
*

Commercially astute with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
