Your new role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead commercial management across multiple civil engineering and groundworks projects. You will provide strategic cost advice, manage contracts, and work closely with project teams to ensure commercial success and value for money.

Responsibilities will include:

Leading the preparation, submission, and negotiation of tenders, budgets, and commercial proposals.

Managing all aspects of cost control, including measurement, valuation, and monitoring of project expenditure.
*

Preparing and reviewing contract documentation, variations, and change orders.
*

Collaborating with project managers and site teams to forecast, report, and manage project profitability.
*

Conducting risk assessments and providing commercial advice to support decision-making.
*

Ensuring compliance with contractual and statutory obligations.
*

Managing subcontractor agreements, procurement, and payment applications.
*

Supporting senior management with reporting, cost analysis, and commercial planning.
*

Mentoring and developing junior QS or commercial team members.

What you will need to succeed:

Relevant professional qualification (MRICS/AssocRICS or equivalent).
*

Extensive experience in civil engineering, groundworks, or construction projects of varying scale.
*

Strong commercial awareness with excellent contract and cost management skills.
*

Proven experience in tendering, valuations, and financial reporting.
*

Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, able to influence project stakeholders.
*

Proactive, organised, and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
*

Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites across the region.
