Senior Quantity Surveyor

We are looking for a highly experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a major infrastructure programme supporting our client in Waltham Cross. This is a key commercial role within a high-profile energy/substation environment, offering the chance to take real ownership of contract and cost management on complex works.

The Opportunity

You will play a critical role in the commercial delivery of substation and associated infrastructure projects, working under NEC Option C (Target Cost) contracts. This is a hands-on, client-facing position where your expertise will directly influence project performance, cost certainty, and successful delivery outcomes.

You'll be embedded within a strong delivery team, providing commercial leadership across all stages of the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

* Full commercial management of projects under NEC Option C
* Administration and assessment of Compensation Events from instruction through to agreement
* Strong control and interpretation of Defined Cost
* Cost reporting, forecasting, and budget management across live projects
* Supporting and advising project teams on NEC contractual obligations
* Driving robust change control and commercial governance
* Engaging with stakeholders, contractors, and client representatives to ensure successful commercial outcomes
* Ensuring compliance with NEC processes and best practice contract management

What We're Looking For

* Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within infrastructure or utilities
* Strong background in substation / energy sector projects (highly desirable)
* Expert-level knowledge of NEC contracts - especially Option C (essential)
* Demonstrable experience managing Defined Cost and cost reimbursable contracts
* Confident and experienced in handling Compensation Events end-to-end
* Strong commercial acumen with excellent attention to detail
* Ability to work independently while influencing key stakeholders
* Strong communication and negotiation skills in a client-facing environment
