Our client is a growing and forward-thinking residential developer delivering high-quality, energy-efficient housing schemes across the North West. With a strong focus on sustainability, design, and community-led developments, the business has quickly established an excellent reputation within the residential sector.
Working across private sale, affordable housing, and build-to-rent developments, they continue to expand their presence throughout Greater Manchester and the surrounding regions. Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured projects, they are now looking to appoint an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial team on low-rise apartment developments valued up to £30 million.
The Role
We are seeking an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team supporting the delivery of low-rise apartment developments across Manchester. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual looking to further develop their career within a growing residential developer while gaining exposure to large-scale residential schemes.
The successful candidate will work closely with Senior Quantity Surveyors and Commercial Managers, assisting with the commercial management of projects from procurement through to final account.
Key Responsibilities

* Assist with the commercial management of multiple residential developments
* Support procurement activities including subcontractor enquiries, tender analysis, and package placement
* Assist in preparing subcontract orders and managing subcontractor accounts
* Process subcontractor applications, payments, and variations
* Support the preparation of monthly cost reports and forecasts
* Assist with valuations, final accounts, and financial reporting
* Monitor project costs and identify potential commercial risks and opportunities
* Carry out measurement and take-offs from drawings and specifications
* Liaise with site teams, suppliers, and subcontractors to support project delivery
* Maintain accurate commercial records and documentation
* Support senior commercial staff with day-to-day project commercial activities
Requirements

* Previous experience in a Quantity Surveying or Assistant Quantity Surveyor role within construction or residential development
* Degree qualified or working towards a degree in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management
* Experience working on residential or apartment developments is desirable
* Good understanding of construction processes and commercial procedures
* Strong numerical and analytical skills
* Excellent communication and organisational abilities
* Good IT skills including Excel and Microsoft Office
* Ability to work effectively within a team environment
* Motivated and eager to progress within a commercial career
Desirable:

* Experience working with a housebuilder, contractor, or residential developer
* Knowledge of JCT contracts
* Exposure to projects within the residential or mixed-use sector
