Quantity Surveyor

Our client is a well-established and growing fabrication and engineering business delivering high-quality steel fabrication, structural steelwork, and bespoke engineering solutions across a range of sectors. Due to continued growth and an increasing project pipeline, they are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially astute professional to take ownership of projects from tender through to final account, ensuring commercial success while supporting the delivery of high-quality engineering and fabrication projects.

Key Responsibilities

* Manage the commercial aspects of multiple fabrication and engineering projects.
* Prepare, submit, and negotiate valuations, applications for payment, variations, and final accounts.
* Monitor project costs, budgets, and forecasts to ensure profitability targets are achieved.
* Identify, assess, and manage commercial risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
* Review and administer contracts, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations.
* Procure subcontractors and suppliers and manage associated accounts.
* Work closely with project managers, design teams, and operational staff to support project delivery.
* Produce accurate commercial reports and forecasts for senior management.
* Negotiate and agree variations and change control processes with clients.
* Support tendering activities by providing commercial input, pricing reviews, and cost advice.
* Maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and key stakeholders.

Candidate Requirements

Essential

* Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within construction, fabrication, engineering, or related industries.
* Strong understanding of cost management, contract administration, and commercial reporting.
* Experience managing subcontractor accounts and procurement processes.
* Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
* Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

Desirable

* Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related discipline.
* Experience within structural steelwork, fabrication, engineering, or manufacturing environments.
* Knowledge of NEC, JCT, or bespoke contract forms.
* Strong understanding of project lifecycle management and cost control.
