A long established and highly regarded main building contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Operations Manager to oversee the delivery of a diverse portfolio of construction projects and provide senior leadership to its operational teams.

The business has an established track record of delivering projects across industrial, commercial, education and public sector environments. The company has built a strong reputation within the Northwest market through a client-focused approach, and a significant proportion of its workload is secured through key frameworks and negotiated contracts.

The Role

Reporting into the senior leadership team, the Operations Manager will have overall responsibility for the operational delivery of multiple live projects.

You will oversee a team of Contracts Managers, providing leadership, direction and accountability while ensuring individual project teams have the resources and support required to deliver successfully.

You will maintain an overview of the wider project portfolio, identifying potential issues at an early stage and working closely with Contracts Managers to ensure programmes, commercial performance, quality and client relationships remain on track.

The role will also involve working closely with the pre-construction and commercial teams to ensure a smooth transition from tender and pre-construction through to project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

* Oversee and manage Contracts Managers and their respective delivery teams.
* Take overall operational responsibility for a portfolio of live construction projects.
* Monitor project performance across programme, commercial, quality and delivery.
* Ensure projects are appropriately resourced and delivery teams are adequately supported.
* Work with Contracts Managers to identify and resolve operational and contractual issues.
* Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants and key stakeholders.
* Work closely with commercial, design, estimating and pre-construction teams.
* Monitor the performance of projects secured through key frameworks and repeat business relationships.
* Identify potential risks across the project portfolio and ensure appropriate mitigation is implemented.
* Mentor, develop and support Contracts Managers and senior delivery staff.
* Drive consistency, accountability and best practice across the operational function.
* Support the mobilisation and handover of new projects.
* Report regularly to the senior leadership team on project and operational performance.
* Contribute to the continued growth and development of the business.

About You

This position would suit an experienced Operations Manager or Construction Manager who has the leadership capability to take responsibility for a wider operational function.

You will have a strong main contracting background and a proven track record of managing multiple construction projects and senior delivery teams.

Experience of delivering projects through frameworks, repeat-client relationships or public-sector procurement routes would be highly advantageous.

You will ideally have experience across various sectors, together with the ability to manage a varied project portfolio.

A proven ability to lead teams and drive project performance is also essential.

The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity to join an established Northwest contractor with a strong project pipeline, and a varied workload.
