Location: Chester
Working Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm
Job Type: Temporary - £23.36 Per hour

About the Role

We are looking for a proactive, reliable and people-focused Housing Officer to join our team based in Chester.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a portfolio of properties and supporting tenants to maintain their tenancies, ensuring properties are well managed, compliant and maintained to a high standard.

This is a varied role that requires excellent communication skills, good organisation and the ability to deal confidently with tenants, contractors and other professionals.

Driving License is required.

Key Responsibilities

* Manage a portfolio of residential properties and tenancies.
* Act as the main point of contact for tenants, responding to queries and resolving issues promptly.
* Carry out regular property inspections and tenancy visits.
* Identify and report repairs, maintenance issues and health and safety concerns.
* Liaise with contractors and maintenance teams to ensure works are completed efficiently.
* Monitor rent accounts and work with tenants to address arrears or payment issues.
* Support with tenancy enforcement where required, following relevant policies and procedures.
* Manage tenancy changes, new tenancies, renewals and terminations.
* Ensure properties meet required standards and are safe, clean and appropriately maintained.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date tenancy and property records.
* Deal professionally with complaints, anti-social behaviour and tenancy-related issues.
* Work closely with internal teams and external agencies where appropriate.
* Ensure all work is carried out in line with housing legislation, policies and procedures.
* Attend properties and meetings as required within the Chester area.

About You

* Experienced in housing, property management, tenancy management or a similar role.
* Confident dealing with people from a wide range of backgrounds.
* Able to handle difficult or sensitive situations professionally.
* Highly organised, with excellent attention to detail.
* A confident communicator, both verbally and in writing.
* Able to manage a busy workload and prioritise effectively.
* Proactive, reliable and able to work independently.
* Comfortable using IT systems and maintaining accurate records.
* Customer-focused with a professional and approachable manner.
