Our client is a respected UK construction consultancy recognised for technical excellence, independent commercial rigour and a genuinely collaborative, client-focused culture.

As the business continues to grow its infrastructure and energy portfolio, we're looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join the team and play a key role in supporting major electricity transmission programme.

This is an opportunity to work on nationally significant infrastructure projects that will help shape the UK's energy network for decades to come.

The Opportunity

As a Quantity Surveyor, you'll provide commercial and cost management support working on major electricity transmission schemes across the UK.

Your work could include:

* New high-voltage overhead line routes, including 400kV and 275kV systems
* Major substation construction and upgrade projects
* Grid reinforcement and network capacity expansion
* Associated civil engineering, cabling and infrastructure packages
* Complex, high-value capital investment programmes

This programme represents one of the most significant upgrades to the UK's electricity transmission network in a generation. With the transition to renewable energy accelerating, these projects are critical to increasing network capacity, strengthening resilience and supporting the UK's net-zero ambitions.

You'll work alongside Tier 1 contractors, engineers, design consultants and programme controls teams, providing robust commercial support across NEC-based contracts and ensuring projects remain commercially controlled throughout their lifecycle.

What You'll Be Doing

Your responsibilities are likely to include, but won't be limited to:

* Supporting commercial and cost management activities across major infrastructure projects
* Assisting with the administration of NEC3 and NEC4 contracts, including Options A, C and E
* Managing and supporting change control, early warnings and compensation events
* Preparing cost plans, budgets, valuations, progress reports and financial forecasts
* Monitoring expenditure, cash flow and earned value against approved budgets
* Supporting commercial risk management and value engineering exercises
* Working collaboratively with contractors, clients and multidisciplinary project teams
* Contributing to procurement documentation, tender analysis and contract reviews
* Ensuring commercial compliance and high-quality reporting
* Supporting and mentoring junior team members where appropriate

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a Quantity Surveyor who is commercially minded, technically strong and comfortable working within complex infrastructure environments.

You'll ideally have:

* Experience as a Quantity Surveyor within infrastructure, utilities, energy, transmission or major civil engineering
* Practical knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 contracts and associated commercial processes
* Experience with cost forecasting, reporting, risk management and programme controls
* Strong numerical, analytical and organisational skills
* Excellent attention to detail and commercial awareness
* The ability to work effectively with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary teams
* A degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline
* MRICS status or active progression towards chartership would be advantageous

Most importantly, you'll be someone who enjoys working collaboratively, takes ownership of their work and wants to contribute to projects that have a genuine national impact.

Why Join Our Client?

You'll be joining a consultancy with a strong reputation for delivering technically excellent commercial solutions while putting people and relationships at the heart of what they do.

In return, you can expect:

* The opportunity to work on nationally critical National Grid infrastructure projects
* Exposure to complex, high-value energy transmission and substation schemes
* A hybrid working model with opportunities across multiple UK locations
* The chance to work alongside leading Tier 1 contractors and industry professionals
* Clear opportunities for career development and progression
* A competitive salary and benefits package
* A collaborative, people-first working culture
* The opportunity to contribute to infrastructure that will support the UK's energy transition for generations to come

Ready for Your Next Challenge?

If you're an experienced Quantity Surveyor looking for your next challenge and want to work on some of the UK's most important infrastructure and energy projects, we'd love to hear from you.

Join a forward-thinking consultancy and help deliver the infrastructure that will power the UK's future.
