About the Company
Our client is an established housing provider responsible for a substantial portfolio of residential properties and communities. With an ongoing programme of repairs, maintenance, refurbishment and improvement works, the organisation is looking to strengthen its surveying function with an experienced Building Surveyor.

The role sits within a busy surveying team, responsible for inspecting and assessing residential properties, diagnosing building defects and recommending appropriate repairs, refurbishment and maintenance solutions. You will prepare condition reports, specifications and schedules of work, while overseeing remedial works and supporting projects from initial survey and scoping through to completion.



The Role
As a Building Surveyor, you will be responsible for providing professional building surveying advice across the organisation's residential property portfolio.

The role covers a varied workload, including condition surveyrs, defect diagnosis, repair and maintenance management, void property management, disrepair and insurance claims. You will work closely with colleagues, contractors and other stakeholders to ensure works are properly specified, delivered to the required standard and completed in line with relevant legislation and technical requirements.

This would suit a Building Surveyor who enjoys a hands-on role, is confident dealing with a wide range of property issues and wants to develop their experience within a social housing environment.



Key Responsibilities

* Inspecting residential properties and assessing condition and defects
* Providing technical advice on building maintenance, repairs and refurbishment
* Undertaking condition surveys, defect investigations and measured surveys
* Producing specifications, schedules of work and tender documentation
* Developing practical solutions to building defects and maintenance issues
* Administering building contracts and ensuring works are delivered to the required standard
* Ensuring work complies with current building standards, regulations and legislation
* Applying relevant requirements relating to Building Regulations, Health andamp; Safety, CDM and Party Wall matters
* Liaising with residents, contractors, consultants and internal stakeholders
* Managing multiple instructions and projects to agreed deadlines
* Providing technical support to colleagues and other members of the surveying team
* Contributing to the wider development and delivery of the organisation's property services



The Ideal Candidate

* Proven experience as a Building Surveyor
* Degree qualified in Building Surveying or a related discipline
* Experience within residential property, social housing or a similar environment
* Strong knowledge of building construction, defects and remedial works
* Experience carrying out property inspections and defect diagnosis
* Confident preparing technical reports, specifications and schedules of work
* Experience overseeing repair, refurbishment or improvement projects
* Good understanding of Building Regulations and relevant Health andamp; Safety legislation
* Knowledge of CDM Regulations and Party Wall matters desirable
* Good understanding of construction contracts and project delivery
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Good organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
* Commercially aware and able to work within project budgets
* Professional and customer-focused approach
* Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office
* Full UK Driving Licence
