Supporting Families across Wigan & Leigh this Christmas

This Christmas, Building Careers UK joined the 2025 Christmas Appeal led by Greenmount Projects, working alongside local businesses and charities to make sure children and families across Wigan & Leigh had a Christmas to remember.

We know that Christmas can be a really tough time for many families in Wigan & Leigh. Rising costs and financial pressures mean that for some, providing presents and a Christmas dinner just isn't possible. Local charities were seeing more families than ever reaching out for support, and it was clear that coordinated action was needed to make sure no child missed out on the magic of Christmas morning.

Working with Greenmount Projects and some fantastic local partners, we helped make the appeal happen by donating toys and gifts to help fill those all-important Christmas sacks.  

The results speak for themselves, but more importantly, they represent real families who had a better Christmas as hundreds of children woke up on Christmas morning to sacks filled with toys and gifts and families who were struggling received Christmas dinners and essential food hampers from Wigan Council and Compassion in Action.

None of this would have been possible without Greenmount Projects driving this initiative and we were proud to play our part in supporting families across the borough.

Our CEO Mark Harris said "When the BCUK Team saw the Greenmount appeal on LinkedIn, they all decided that they wanted to get involved and so began buying toys and gifts to donate out of their own pockets, so the business decided to match the team’s donations. For us its simple: we're part of this community, and we want to play our part in making it stronger. When businesses, charities, and local people work together, amazing things happen. We saw that firsthand this Christmas, and it's inspired us to do even more.”
