TITLE:
Quantity Surveyor - Social Housing Maintenance (Kitchens andamp; Bathrooms)
Wakefield

£41,000 - £50,000 + £4K Car Allowance + Benefits

Your new company

Our client is a well-established and fast-growing contractor specialising in the delivery of social housing maintenance and refurbishment works across the North and Midlands. With a strong reputation for quality, innovation, and community focus, they partner with local authorities and housing associations to deliver high-volume improvement programmes-particularly kitchens and bathrooms-designed to enhance the lives of residents. Their supportive culture, strong commercial leadership, and people-first values make them an employer of choice within the sector.

Your new role

Our client is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to take ownership of the commercial performance of a social housing maintenance contract covering the Yorkshire and East Midlands regions. Although you'll be based out of the Wakefield office, you'll be required to travel to sites across both regions. This role focuses on managing the financial aspects of planned maintenance works-primarily kitchen and bathroom upgrades-ensuring accurate cost control, budgeting, and contractual compliance.

Responsibilities will include:

* Managing the commercial function of kitchen and bathroom refurbishment projects
* Overseeing subcontractor procurement, applications, and payments
* Producing and reviewing cost value reconciliations (CVRs) and financial reports
* Monitoring budgets and cost forecasts across multiple workstreams and sites
* Preparing interim and final accounts and negotiating variations
* Ensuring compliance with client contracts, including JCT and NHF forms
* Working closely with delivery teams to ensure accurate reporting and programme alignment
* Conducting valuations, site visits, and regular reviews of project progress
* Managing risk and identifying commercial opportunities across the region
* Supporting the wider commercial team and contributing to company performance targets

What you will need to succeed:

* Experience as a Quantity Surveyor within social housing or planned maintenance
* Strong understanding of kitchens and bathrooms refurbishment works
* Knowledge of relevant contracts including JCT, TPC, or NHF
* Ability to manage multiple projects across a regional footprint
* Confident in producing CVRs, cost plans, and commercial reports
* Strong negotiation and communication skills
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across Yorkshire and the East Midlands
* Proficiency with Excel and commercial systems

What you get in return:

This role offers a great opportunity to join a growing, community-focused organisation that values its people and supports their career development. You'll enjoy a healthy mix of office and site-based work across a varied regional contract, with a competitive salary and full benefits package:

* £41,000 - £50,000 salary (DOE)
* £4,000 car allowance
* Mileage: 17p per mile or 7p for electric vehicles
* 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
* 3x salary life insurance
* Single private medical insurance
* Discounted gym memberships
* 3% employer / 5% employee pension contributions
* Holiday purchase scheme
* Company performance bonus
* Salary sacrifice car scheme (launching June)

This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated QS to join a professional yet people-centred team delivering vital improvements to homes and communities across two major UK regions.
