A well-established and reputable main contractor are looking to recruit an experienced Project Manager for a high-profile refurbishment scheme located in Barrow-in-Furness. This role presents a fantastic opportunity to lead the delivery of a technically complex project involving full building envelope replacement, structural modifications, services coordination, and technical design finalisation.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in main contracting, preferably with experience in regulated sectors such as defence or nuclear and will be confident managing multi-disciplinary teams through the design and construction phases.

Key Responsibilities

* Project Planning: Develop and maintain detailed project plans with clear milestones, ensuring alignment with deadlines and client requirements.
* Design Coordination: Lead and support the design team in delivering RIBA Stage 4 technical design, working closely with client representatives, consultants, and suppliers.
* Team Leadership: Oversee internal teams and external subcontractors, allocating resources efficiently and driving performance.
* Financial Management: Work alongside the commercial team to establish budgets, monitor project spend, and manage cost risks effectively.
* Compliance andamp; Safety: Ensure all site activities comply with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations, especially within a nuclear-licensed boundary.
* Quality Control: Champion a "right-first-time" approach throughout construction, maintaining high standards of workmanship and compliance.
* Stakeholder Communication: Act as the main interface between project teams, suppliers, and client-side stakeholders, ensuring transparency and collaboration.
* Risk andamp; Issue Management: Proactively identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to keep the project on track.
* Reporting: Produce and present regular progress reports to senior management and external stakeholders.

Experience required

* Minimum 5 years' experience as a Project Manager in the construction industry.
* Strong background in main contracting with knowledge of preconstruction planning and project execution.
* Demonstrable experience managing complex refurbishment projects involving structural and envelope works.
* Excellent leadership, organisation, and communication skills.
* Comfortable managing multiple stakeholders across technical and commercial functions.
* Proficiency in project management software and tools.
* Experience working under NEC3 contracts is desirable
* Exposure to the defence or nuclear sectors would be an advantage
* SC Clearance or eligibility to obtain it
