Head of Planning - Infrastructure

Manchester | Hybrid Working | £90,000-£95,000 + Package

Our client is looking to recruit an experienced Head of Planning to lead and develop their planning capability across a growing infrastructure business.

This is an exciting opportunity for an established planning professional to take ownership of an existing team, drive business growth and play a key role in shaping the future of the planning function.

With ambitious growth plans and strong support from the senior leadership team, this role offers genuine autonomy, influence and the opportunity to make a lasting impact.

The Role

As Head of Planning, you will take responsibility for leading and developing a team of 4-5 planners, including senior planners, whilst overseeing the planning function across a diverse portfolio of infrastructure projects.

Working closely with the Directors, you will combine technical leadership with a strong commercial focus, helping to develop client relationships, identify new opportunities and support the continued growth of the business.

Key responsibilities include:

*

Lead, manage and develop the planning team, driving performance and technical excellence.
*

Provide strategic and technical planning support across major infrastructure projects.
*

Oversee programme development, critical path analysis, progress monitoring, forecasting and recovery planning.
*

Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients.
*

Play an active role in business development, including client meetings, tenders, proposals and pitches.
*

Identify new opportunities and contribute to the growth of the planning pipeline.
*

Work closely with the senior leadership team to shape the future direction of the planning service.

About You

We are looking for an experienced planning professional who can bring together strong technical expertise, proven leadership skills and a genuine appetite for business development.

You will ideally have:

*

Significant planning or project controls experience within construction, infrastructure or major projects.
*

A strong technical understanding of project programmes, baselines, critical path, float, progress measurement and forecasting.
*

Proven experience managing and developing planning teams.
*

Strong stakeholder management and client relationship skills.
*

Experience supporting business development, winning work and identifying new opportunities.
*

Excellent communication, leadership and commercial awareness.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

This is more than a traditional Head of Planning position. Our client is looking for someone who wants to take ownership, influence strategy and help build a successful and growing planning function.

You will benefit from:

*

£90,000-£95,000 salary plus package.
*

Genuine influence over the direction and growth of the planning team.
*

Direct access to Directors and close collaboration with senior leadership.
*

An established team of experienced planners to lead and develop.
*

Strong growth ambitions, creating opportunities for career progression.
*

Hybrid working, with approximately 2-3 days per week in the office or on client sites.
*

Manchester-based role with exposure to a broad range of infrastructure projects.
